Subj: BAND OF MARINES RECRUIT TRAINING UNIFORM & GROOMING REGULATIONS
1.
Purpose. To promulgate current policies and regulations regarding wear and upkeep of Band of Marines uniforms and grooming standards per the reference.
2.
Action. Drill Instructors shall ensure that all recruits wear, and properly police themselves, in the manner prescribed, those articles of uniform, accessories, and grooming authorized by this manual.

General. This revision contains substantial changes.

Chapter 1. States purpose of this Manual and identifies responsibilities for uniform and general personal policing matters. Provides changes to uniform of the day policy. Updates restrictions on accessories, piercings, and all forms of avatar clothing that cover up the avatar's body and face from view. Incorporates revised standards of dress and regulations on authorized hairstyles and facial hair.
Chapter One
1.
Purpose of Manual. The purpose of this Manual is to identify regulations on the wear, use, and upkeep of recruit uniforms and grooming standards.
2.
Recruit Uniformsa.
Garrison Uniform. While recruits are in garrison, and not performing uniform inspections and initial muster, all recruits will be required to wear the following items as prescribed by the Battalion Commander:

Inspection Uniform. During uniform inspections, all recruits will be required to wear the following items as prescribed by the Battalion Commander:

Graduation Uniform. Upon graduation day of recruit training, all recruits will be authorized to wear the following service uniform as prescribed by the Battalion Commander:
Dress Blues3.
Recruit Grooming Standardsa.
Hairstyles. As per Marine Corps regulations and the guidelines prescribed by the Battalion Commander, recruits are solely authorized the use of the number one hairstyle. Females are required to pull their hair back into a bun.
b.
Facial Hair. During the course of recruit training, all recruits are to remain cleanly shaven at all times. This means that the use or wear of mustaches, beards, and other forms of facial hair are restricted. Regular grooming standards for active-duty personnel do not apply until post-graduation from recruit training.

Accessoriesa.
Piercings.
Males:
Male recruits are not authorized to have piercings on their avatar's at any time during the course of recruit training.
Females:
Female recruits are not authorized have piercings on their avatar's with the exception of earrings. Authorized earrings are the stud piercings.
b.
Eye Wear. Recruits are authorized to wear bifocals only. The use of sunglasses or shades is not authorized. In addition, the bifocals must use regular frames. No irregular frames, such as "moon shades" are allowed.
c.
Rings/Watches. Recruits are authorized to wear rings and watches.
d.
Headwear. Recruits are not authorized to equip headwear (i.e., helmets and covers).
e.
Gloves. Recruits are not authorized to wear gloves with the exception of the white formal gloves, prescribed for use with the Dress Blue uniform.
5.
Full Body Clothesa.
General. Clothes that cover the avatar's body, masking the face and/or head of the avatar from view are restricted from use. Additionally, recruits are not to wear the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (Army Ranger Armor) during the course of recruit training.
