Standard Operating Procedure 10-1
Purpose: This SOP is to outline regulations regarding requesting liberty, family, personal, and extended leave.
Application: This SOP applies to all Marines attached to the 13th Battalion, 37th Regiment.
General:
A. Submitting Leave Requests
(1) In order to submit a request for leave, the individual Marine must have the following:
a. A clean record for the past three months prior to requesting leave.
b. Have no unauthorized absences on file.
(2) When submitting a request for leave, the request must be presented in writing with the following information:
a. The rank, name, and billet of the Marine.
b. The time span from which the leave will occur (when leave will begin and end)
c. The reason for the request for leave (work, personal, emergency, or liberty).
B. Liberty Leave
(1) Liberty leave can only authorize a minimum of twenty-four hours of leave and a maximum of ninety-six hours.
(2) Upon submitting a request for liberty, an NCO will be assigned as leave supervisor. The leave supervisor is responsible for:
a. Ensuring the leave recipient returns to active-duty in the allotted time.
b. Maintaining contact with and reporting all misconduct while recipient is on leave to Police Sergeant.
c. Reporting to the Police Sergeant if recipient reports for duty after the time of their liberty expiration.
C. Work Leave
(1) Work leave can only authorize a minimum of forty-eight hours and a maximum of two weeks of leave.
(2) Upon submitting a request for work leave, an officer will be assigned as leave supervisor. The leave supervisor is responsible for:
a. Ensuring the leave recipient returns to active-duty in the allotted time.
b. Reporting to the Police Sergeant if recipient reports for duty after the time of their work leave expiration.
D. Personal/Family Leave
(1) Personal/Family Leave can only authorize a minimum of forty-eight hours and a maximum of three months of leave.
(2) Upon submitting a request for personal/family leave, an officer will be assigned as leave supervisor. The leave supervisor is responsible for:
a. Ensuring the leave recipient returns to active-duty in the allotted time.
b. Reporting to the Police Sergeant if recipient reports for duty after the time of their personal/family leave expiration.
E. Emergency Leave
(1) Emergency leave can only authorize a minimum of twenty-four hours and a maximum of a week of leave.
(2) Upon submitting a request for emergency leave, an NCO will be assigned as leave supervisor. The leave supervisor is responsible for:
a. Ensuring the circumstances stated require an emergency leave.
b. Ensuring the leave recipient returns to active-duty in the allotted time or requests a larger span of time for leave.
c. Reporting to the Police Sergeant if the recipient reports for duty after the time of their emergency leave expiration.
