In order to maintain a constant flow of work and to maintain all of our online assets (namely the website and our forums), I have decided it would be best to assign Marines in the Company Staff certain routine jobs that will allow an even distribution of work among everyone and allow things to get done in a timely manner.
Company Commander -- the Company Commander's responsibilities are as follows:
- writes all general SOPs and field manuals, as well as approves them.
- all Standard Operating Procedures and Field Manuals related to conduct, regulations, policies, and general topics are either written or approved by the Company Commander.
- administrates and moderates forums and website.
- designs and maintains the website and assigns moderators to maintain and oversee the forums.
- assigns NCOs to departments based on Bravo MOS's.
- any NCO with a Bravo MOS will be assigned to a department (command). Drill Instructors are assigned to Recruit Training Command. Combat Instructors are assigned to Combat Training Command. The list goes on.
- acts as judge during court-martial and NJP.
- during a court-martial, the Company Commander will be considered the judge of the hearing. He will be responsible for the final sentencing of those being court-martialed.
- handles the promotions of officers within the clan.
- all officers due for promotion will be reviewed and promoted by the Company Commander.
- writes FitReps on the platoon commanders of the company.
- will write the Fitness Reports on his platoon commanders, grading their quality and their ability to pull their own weight.
Company Executive Officer -- the Company Executive Officer's responsibilities are as follows:
- writes all training SOPs and field manuals, as well as approves them.
- all Standard Operating Procedures and field manuals related to training (recruit training, combat training, personnel inspections, etc.) will be either written or approved by the XO.
- acts as head of the Company Staff.
- the XO is in charge of the Company Staff. He assigns members to the staff based on their past Fitness Reports, time in service, willingness to work, and other additional criteria. He also is responsible for writing Fitness Reports on the staff members for review by CO.
- acts as commanding officer in the absence of the Company Commander.
- schedules all clan training events, as well as approves training requests.
- the XO will be required to schedule training events as needed, especially in the case of Marines requesting training for their units. He will need to be able to work closely with the Company Gunnery Sergeant, as he needs to be able to attend and oversee the event.
- approves or declines all requests for leave within the company.
- acts as Defense Attorney during court-martials.
- chairman of the Enlisted Promotion Board.
Company First Sergeant -- the Company First Sergeant's responsibilities are as follows:
- the SNCOIC of the company. Acts in place of the Company CO and XO in case of their absence.
- acts as prosecution during court-martials.
- member of the Enlisted Promotion Board.
- responsible for reviewing Fitness Reports and voting on whether a Marine is eligible for a promotion.
- assigns each platoon a platoon sergeant and maintains good communication with them.
- the First Sergeant will assign the most senior NCO in a platoon to the position of platoon sergeant. He will maintain good communications with them in an attempt to keep informed of the progress (and issues) of the Marines in the platoons.
- writes and maintains personnel files on all enlisted members in the company.
- the First Sergeant is required to create and maintain individual records of each and every member of the company. These personnel files will be updated on a monthly basis.
Company Gunnery Sergeant -- the Company Gunnery Sergeant's responsibilities are as follows:
- acts as the official investigator in lieu of a court-martial.
- attempts to gather evidence that will help the case move along. This would require listening to witnesses, gathering physical evidence (screenshots, voice recordings, etc), and other investigative duties.
- attends and oversees all training events.
- ensures that the Marines are being trained properly, are remaining on task, and are given time to review and practice what they have learned.
- member of the Enlisted Promotion Board.
- responsible for voting on whether a Marine is eligible or not for promotion based on information gathered from the Fitness Reports and personal experience.
- acts as official moderator of the forums.
- ensures that all clan and forum rules are followed whilst members use the Band of Marines forums.
